Documents the remarkable explorations undertaken by William Grave, who with Arthur Talbot, attempted to find overland routes from the Hollyford to Milford Sound. The author was Grave's daughter and she compiled the book from his diaries and lecture notes. His achievements as an explorer have been recreated by NZ TV One in their new documentary series First Crossings.
