In part one J. Sutherland recontructs William Taylor's first months as a farmhand on Knox's farm, later Te Hue Station, near East Cape during 1912-13. William Taylor then recollects his years on the land. The illustrations by artist Colin Wheeler show the area as it was in 1980. Signed by both authors and the artist.
