This book was first published in 1976. This is the 2008 third edition. When it appeared there were around 100 Steiner Waldorf Schools throughout the world; now there are 1000 as well as many playgroups and kindergartens. The book covers all aspects of the education and divides it into the pre school years, the first eight years (starting at the age of seven), and the last four years (from 14 to 18). There are also sections on the rhythm of the day, specific subjects, the use of textbooks, and the school in the modern world.
