The Innocent Artists: Student Art From Papua New GuineaStock informationGeneral Fields
Special Fields
Local DescriptionNear fine. Name mark on the front endpaper. DescriptionSecondhand. Early in 1976 the students of Kerowagi High School in Papua New Guinea's remote Chimbu Province were provided with an opportunity to display their remarkable skill in drawing. They had received no instruction and no training and the extraordinary thing is that they could all draw - it seemed to come naturally to them. In addition, there is no tradition of drawing as such in Chimbu Province, and much of the students' artwork is very far removed from the styles in other regions of Papua New Guinea. |
