Best known for his photographic record of the earliet years of the Canterbury settlement and the infant city of Christchurch, Dr Barker was in the first party of immigrants in December 1850. Barker was dogmatic and iracible but always enthusiastic and very human. Illustrated with the doctor's own drawings and photographs.
