NZ Art & Artists | Secondhand

Price Reduced. Was $60.00 Tom Esplin's artistic career started at the early age of 10, when he was awarded first prize for a sketch of his father. At age 18, he won a scholarship from the Edinburgh College of Arts, where his art master commented that Esplin was one of the best pupils he had had presented for some years and he predicted a brilliant career for the lad. After his duty serving in the war, he took up a teaching exchange in Dunedin. He and his family decided to emigrate to New Zealand and began a lecturing position at Otago University for the next 25 years. During this time, he developed his trademark and unique palette knife impasto technique. During his full life Tom completed over 3,500 paintings, so this commemorative book can only touch the surface. It is a sketch of his life journey with camera and palette knife in hand.
