Before he came to New Zealand, E.R. Chudleigh promised his mother he would keep a diary for her benefit. He continued with this diary after her death up until two weeks prior to his own in 1922. Here is the diary, much abridged, but otherwise unaltered.
The dirary gives a good account of station life in Canterbury in the early 1860s, and in the Chatham Islands after 1865.
The dust jacket is worn wth losses, tears, and creases, but the book is otherwise in good reading condition.
