Writer, photographer and publisher Gordon Ell ONZM has long been active in Forest and Bird magazine including a term as national president (1990-94). He has written and provided photography for an enormous number of books including Seashore Birds of New Zealand, Nature Hobbies for New Zealanders, the Discover New Zealand series, The A-Z of New Zealand Fact & Folklore (and its revised edition Kiwiosities published in 2008) and Gold Rush Country of New Zealand. Gordon is the director of a publishing house based in Auckland called The Bush Press.
