A history of the Ashley Forest : including Mt Thomas, Okuku & Omihi Forests, 1939-2010 (Handling fee and/or freight charges may apply)
Author(s): John Ward & Kowai Archives Society
A former officer-in-charge of the Ashley Forest, John Ward, has helped capture the rich history of the forest - with a helping hand from keen members of the Kowai Archives Society. The book is dedicated to all the men and women who worked at Ashley and satellite forests, it evolved from an archives workshop attended by Kowai society members, who were urged to bring the history of their district up-to-date before it was lost.. Avis Wilson, who helped search and collate information and gather memoirs from former forestry workers, many of whom worked in the forest for 30 to 40 years, says it’s been a mammoth task helped by keen amateur historians who spent hours fossicking through Archives New Zealand in Christchurch for information on the forest.
As new.
