On 17 January 1930, at the age of 31, agnes Moncrieff (Nessie) left Auckland to sail to China. For the next 15 years she was with the YWCA of China as an international Secretary, financially supported by the YWCA of New Zealand. While in China, Agnes wrote letters to her mother, a friend and the YWCA of New zealand, which have been archived. Barbara Francis, a good friend of Agnes, has compiled extracts from these letters and other records to create a picture of the remarkable life of this YWCA woman during the Sin0-Japanese war and WW11.
